How to determine where is the best location to live in Chiang Mai Thailand?
The view is important, the prices and the land are important, the furnitures and amenities… All this will make or break a deal! But this guide is not about all this. Our Best Home Locations in Chiang Mai Guide is here to go in deeper details, like the main Hospitals and Schools Location in Chiang Mai city, which ones are the best and in which area you should look for a home considering those.
The main Hospitals of Chiang Mai
Let’s start by the most popular one, Chiang Mai Ram Hospital. This one could be a bit more expensive than the others but the service is top of the line and the location is right in the square of the old city. Not only they offer a service of quality, but they also have multiple locations in Chiang Mai, making it easier for one to access their service points.
Next stop you have the Bangkok Hospital of Chiang Mai, serving foreigners with good prices. Located on the east side of Chiang Mai in an area where the houses are affordable with beautiful views and lands.
Always in the good prices, Sriphat Hospital is also very popular with expats of Chiang Mai. Located close to the city center, the prices are a bit cheaper than the Ram hospital.
Lanna Hospital to the north of the outer ring of Chiang Mai. Houses over there are very well located and have direct access to the superhighway.
Where and what are the best Malls and Grocery Stores in Chiang Mai Thailand?
The obvious one is Central Festival, located directly on the super highway, north of the old city. There are a lot of little muubans and condo buildings around this mall.
You also have Central Plaza Airport, and as its name let you guess, is located right beside the airport. If you head south on the main road of that mall, you will visit Mae Hia and Hang Dong districts. This road is called Chiang Mai-Hang Dong road, easy to remember.
It is important to know that, since on that road you also have Big C and Tesco Lotus that are not only the Walmarts of Thailand, but they also have many little shops, banks, and restaurants inside the same building. They are basically malls of their own, so always look for those when surveying the area.
A bit further you have Kad Farang, a fun concept with many restaurants, fast foods (Mcdonalds, KFC), a grocery store and little shops around.
Of course, we cannot go through this part of the guide without mentioning Maya and Kad Suan Kaew, but houses in these areas are hard to find, and even harder to buy.
Where are the best International Schools in Chiang Mai?
Even more important, if you have kids or planning to have kids, are the International Schools of Chiang Mai. You are in luck because you do have several options, the main one being Chiang Mai International School (CMIS). The latter is located near the Ping River to the north east of the Old City. It is a bit pricey but many says it’s worth every penny!
You also have Varee and Lanna International Schools, very popular with foreigners from around the world. They are both located more in the South of Chiang Mai and covers all these areas: Mae Hia, Hang Dong, Wat Ket, Hai Ya, Tha Sala, Nong Hoi, Chang Klan… These areas are full of houses for sale with great deals and thus why I am mentioning them.
Now to the North, in Mae Rim, there is the Prem International School, considered one of the bests. Very far this time from the city center, but a lot of farangs go live there. It is located in the Mae Rim area, and the real estate market is booming over there.
